Adrian Goiginger, director of The Best of All Worlds, won the VIENNA FILM AWARD Young Director award at the Vienna Film Ball on 24 March 2017.
Winning this award came as a big surprise for Goiginger: “I was utterly amazed when my producer received the call saying we would be awarded this prize. Winning the prize in Berlin had already been a great joy. We didn’t think that the film would be so well received, never in our wildest dreams would we have assumed this.” The awards ceremony took place during a gala celebration at the start of the film ball, where Peter Weck, among others, was also honoured for his life’s work.
At the film ball the director was also joined by the leading actress Verena Altenberger, 8-year old Jeremy Miliker and his parents, Lukas Miko, Michael Pink and Philipp Stix. It was recently announced that Paul Sprinz and Yoshi Heimrath have been nominated for the German Camera Award 2017 for their camera work on The Best of All Worlds, and the prize will be awarded in Cologne in June.
An international jury chooses the winner of the VIENNA FILM AWARD which is then presented at the Vienna film ball. This was the 15th time that the Vienna film ball has been held in Vienna’s City Hall. In recent years the film ball had lost acceptance amongst filmmakers due to its leadership by a former sports journalist. However, three years ago agency owner Michael Schoedsack from Pforzheim took over organisation of the ball and, with great dedication and commitment, regained the trust of the film industry. The event is now a place to see and be seen, in the tradition of the great film balls such as those in Munich or Berlin.
The Best of All Worlds is currently being sent to different festivals all over the world and is scheduled for release in Austrian cinemas in autumn.
The Austrian premiere will be celebrated at the Diagonale ’17 in Graz where both screenings were quickly sold out. Information about other festivals will also be sent via email; simply register in this list:
